'FANTAIL ON BLOSSOMS' printed image on glass splashback
Description : This was an extra long splashback (4m x 0.5m) for the new Palazzo Kitchens Showroom at 107 The Strand Parnell, Auckland.
The timber benchtop and white high gloss cabinetry work very nicely with the natural colour tones of this cheerful Fantail collage.
This showroom is open to the public during weekdays and on Saturdays for viewing - another one of my favourite designs !
'SILVEREYE ON FLAX' printed image on glass splashback
Description : Contemporary, simple and sophisticated, 'Silvereye on Flax' (b/w background) is the perfect backdrop to this large minimalist kitchen splashback. This artwork can be printed up to 5.3m x 0.75m long and is available with a subtle blue background also.
Process : My customer wanted a simple flax design for her large splashback area & I had been meaning to create this artwork from photos I took over Summer so it was the perfect incentive to finally create it - and it worked perfectly for the kitchen design.
'ANTIQUE PATINA MIRROR' vintage look splashback
Description : Antique patina mirror glass examples - great in either contemporary or vintage kitchens.
Process : The traditional silvering process is used to coat the back of the glass and then acid is hand applied to eat away the silver. Finally a coat of paint is applied to the back to seal the mirror. A more even surface patina texture can be produced or a more uneven, mottled surface can be achieved to create a more worn vintage look. Different tints of glass (bronze, green or blue) can be used to tint the mirror.
'WHAT'S FOR DINNER ?' printed image on glass splashback
Description : My new, fun and grungy artwork 'What's for dinner?' has been superimposed in these kitchens. This collage artwork is a merge of photography, signage, street art and my own hand drawings - inspired by grungy cafe culture, international food, takeaways and the general craziness of mealtimes ! The artwork file is sized at 2250x750mm and is created in layers so any layers can be turned off / on and if you have a favourite cafe or restaurant then we could even include a photo of the sign in the collage to personalise it for you.
Process : As I have only just designed this artwork I thought I would superimpose it in a couple of example kitchens. This artwork works best in very simple contemporary clean line designs with nothing else going on to distract from the artwork.
'TUI PORTRAIT' printed image on glass splashback
Description : 'Tui Portrait' artwork recomposed to fit with the differing heights of this splashback area.
Process : My customer approached me as she really wanted the Tui Portrait image but her splashback was differing heights and the original artwork wouldn't work compositionally. So I revisited the original photoshoot of the Tui birds and made up this artwork that fits perfectly with the heights and dimensions. This would be one of my favourite kitchen and splashback designs so far - the natural timber works so well with the flax and Tui image and gives the kitchen such a wonderful serene atmosphere. I have also included a 'before' photo so you can see the difference the splashback makes.

Description : 'Takapuna in Summer' splashback for showroom kitchen - Mastercraft Kitchens Hibiscus Coast.
Process : You may have seen this wonderfully designed kitchen at the Auckland Home Show 2014 where a black and white Rangitoto photo taken from Takapuna was incorporated in this largely monochromatic contemporary kitchen design.
'RETRO KITCHEN' printed image on glass splashback - beige background
Description : 'Retro Kitchen' beige background kitchen splashback 900x750mm. Please enquire about our current special pricing for 900x750mm size splashbacks.
Process : Celebrating retro NZ with a collaged artwork comprised of old logos of our familiar brand names and hand drawn illustrations I have done. This quite neutral splashback design can have different coloured backgrounds and is a wonderful feature without being too dominant. There is also an area where can write your shopping list in the middle of the design with whiteboard marker pen. I designed this splashback for my own kitchen as I wanted a design that worked with my 1970's house & has a little bit of red colour but merges with the rest of my neutral coloured kitchen. I can reconfiqure this design to work with different sizes other than 900x750mm, please enquire.
'KOHI PARADISE' printed image on glass splashback - Long Bay show home
Description : 'Kohi Paradise' printed image splashback.
Process : Shore Homes worked with me to find an image that was sophisticated, provided that 'Wow' factor and worked with the colour scheme of their kitchen. They wanted a beach theme and 'Kohi Paradise' was chosen - it looks stunning and the dark granite bench works perfectly with the dark stone wall in the image. This amazing show home is open if you would like to view a good example of a printed image splashback. This show home is located at 10 Remuremu Street, Long Bay and is open 10am - 4pm during the weekdays and 10am - 2pm during the weekends.

'EARTHLY DELIGHTS ' printed image on glass splashback
Description : 'Earthly Delights' printed image splashback.
Process : This artwork is a rectangular crop from my round version (click here) and works well if you want a stunning feature, it almost feels like a window to another exotic world ! The photographic content was shot at the Winter Gardens in the Auckland Domain however the end resulting artwork looks more like a painting due to digital processing.
'BEEHIVES' printed image on glass splashback - Ponsonby
Description : 'Beehives' printed image splashback.
Process : My client wanted an image that was 'kitchen related' and the beehive image worked perfectly with the proportion of her splashback and had beautiful muted colour without being too bright. Initially she was thinking about having both walls in her kitchen featuring a printed splashback but we both decided that it could look too much and maybe we should place plain colour glass on the adjacent wall. There were 4 plug cutouts in this splashback and we printed image plug covers to disguise the white power points and switches as much as possible - they are hardly noticable and much better than 4 white socket covers ruining the overall look ! 'TUI TRIO' printed image on glass splashback - One Tree Hill
Description : 'Tui Trio' printed image splashback.
Process : This is a new version of the Tui Song artwork for splashbacks that are less panoramic and it works wonderfully well with this neutral kitchen with dark granite bench. Whilst providing a stunning feature, it doesn't 'take over' the small kitchen as the light sepia coloured leaves blends with the neutral walls and dappled light coming through the trees works well with the under cupboard lighting.

'PIHA SUNSET' printed image on glass splashback - Takapuna
Description : 'Piha Sunset' printed splashback.
Process : One of my favourite installations so far, my client had a brand new house with clean white kitchen and wanted to add interest and a little colour to the contemporary kitchen. We used the Piha Sunset panorama and desaturated the colours by 50%. And WOW it looks amazing.

'TOI TOI' printed image on glass splashback - Kitchen Studio New Plymouth
Description : 'Toi Toi' image in brown sepia toning.
Process : Kitchen Studio wanted a feature splashback for their new display kitchen and something that toned in with their naturally toned kitchen. We came up with a version of the Toi Toi image processed in a subtle brown sepia which ties the whole kitchen design together and provides a wonderful feature without being too bold and 'in your face' ! When there is a window in the splashback t's important to choose an image which doesn't have a focal point that's cutout so this repetitive image worked perfectly.

'SWEET AS' printed image on glass splashback - Albany
Description : 'Sweet As' printed splashback.
Process : Using the 'Sweet As' graphic we recomposed the design slightly to work in with the splashback dimensions. This neutral white kitchen worked especially well with this bold image and it provided a real focal point to the living area. The feature colours were then picked out in the accessories and furniture to make the space and colours work together as a whole.
'CUSTOM DESIGN' image on glass printed kitchen splashback - St. Heliers
Description : Custom designed multi-wall splashback.
Process : This design evolved from my customers desire to merge the indoors & outdoors and create that real 'wow' factor for her kitchen. The splashback was divided up into several pieces of printed glass and spanned from benchtop to ceiling. Overall we had 3 Tui birds with a focal point on each wall, and a bird flying over the window to tie the scene together. Many pieces of photos were merged together to create this design which had to work in compositionally with the placement of the rangehood and windows - it was a tricky one but the end result is amazing !
'FLIGHT OF THE TUI' & 'FLAX' 2 tone kitchen & bar front image on glass splashback - Titirangi
Description : Cyan 2 tone printed image splashback (Flight of the Tui & flax image) for kitchen and bar front.
Process : My client wished to have a more 'vectorised' digital look made with 2 tones of cyan. The 'Flight of the Tui' photo was mirrored and then initially vectorised into 2 tones of grey. Then a Pantone cyan colour was chosen. The sampling process was extremely important with this job to get the cyan tone printing to the client's expectations. We adjusted colours & printed several test samples to achieve the desired outcome for this kitchen splashback and bar front.

'TUI SONG' image on glass printed kitchen splashback - Parnell
Description : 'Tui Song' printed splashback.
Process : This contemporary plain white kitchen provided a sleek crisp backdrop that perfectly compliments the chosen 'Tui Song' image. The original image was adjusted slightly with the yellow & green removed from the background to give a more neutral black & white background that blends wonderfully with the rest of the neutral colours of the kitchen cabinetry. This printed splashback provides the visual feature for the whole kitchen and adjoining lounge area.

'KOHI PARADISE' image on glass printed kitchen splashback - Piha
Description : 'Kohi Paradise' colour printed splashback.
Process : This was a simple job where there was no image manipulation necessary, just a simple 'cropping' of the image to suit the splashback dimensions. The blue tones in the image worked well with the blue accents of the cabinetry and the dark stone wall blended beautifully with the black granite.
“The hardest part for us was to decide which picture to choose for our splashback as all of Lucy’s photographs are fantastic. Working with Lucy on the print for the splashback was a stress- free experience”

Description : 'Tui Song' printed splashback.
Process : This splashback was done for Fluid Interiors showroom in Albany. It is a great design as the printed image splashback is divided up into 3 separate pieces of glass which slide up and down to reveal hidden cupboards - extremely practical !
'GLENDOWIE PARADISE' image on glass printed kitchen splashback - Orakei
Description : 'Orakei Paradise' colour printed splashback.
Process : With a sparkly new white kitchen, almost any image would have looked good in this kitchen. And my client chose a beautiful bright Rangitoto scene that added colour and life to the whole open plan living & dining space.
'TUI PORTRAIT' printed image on glass splashback - Remuera
Description : 'Tui Portrait' printed splashback.
Process : Our client chose this image as it tied in beautifully with her colour scheme of neutrals, blues, timber detailing and the blue flecked benchtop and linked with the foliage outside the kitchen windows.
The Kitchen was built by Laustsen Cabinetmakers, the bench by Topline Benches and the splashback by Graphic Glass. The flax inserts in the drawers (by Blum) were also printed with a flax silhouette in 3 different colours picked out from the splashback to tie everything together. The kitchen looks amazing !
'KOHI PARADISE' (B/W) printed image on glass splashback - Wellington
Description : 'Kohi Paradise' b/w printed splashback.
Process : With a stunning new white kitchen with simple stainless steel benchtop, this image provided the drama within this otherwise neutral backdrop. The simplest kitchens always turn out the best with the printed splashbacks as there is nothing to detract from the image and overall the effect isn't too 'busy'.

Description : 'Aotearoa' collage with custom images - printed splashback.
Process : Using the 'Aotearoa' collage my client asked if I could photograph the Parnell Cathedral and the Auckland Museum and incorporate these 2 photos in my collage to add a touch of local content. The sparkling white kitchen worked wonderfully with the fresh, bright collage.
